PG house by KERSTENS

KERSTENS reimagined with PG house an existing waterfront home on the lively French shoreline as a distilled coastal retreat, where sea, light and space are held in one continuous gesture. The redesign transforms a previously fragmented holiday house into an open, breathing sequence, with extended sightlines toward the horizon and a strong visual and atmospheric connection to the water. Working within the existing envelope, openings are maximized, circulation is simplified and volumes are expanded, allowing daylight to flow deep into the plan and drawing the maritime landscape into everyday life.

Calm and cohesion
Material continuity reinforces the sense of calm and cohesion. Sandblasted Muschelkalk limestone, French oak and wenge accents flow seamlessly across floors, walls and passages, softening transitions and establishing a restrained architectural language. Blackened steel introduces a precise counterpoint, from subtly fluted details to the floating main stair that allows light and views to pass through the space.

Choreograph of architecture, interior and object
Reduced to its essentials, the interior foregrounds proportion and tactility, carefully choreographing a dialogue between architecture, interior and object. A curated selection of vintage furniture and art adds depth and character, grounding the minimal composition in lived-in warmth and cultural resonance. The sum of all parts is a domestic landscape where the presence of the sea is not framed as a view, but experienced as an atmosphere.
